"Second tasting: Uiuiui is the sharp on the palate, no wonder at almost 70%!But convinced me no longer so, since I know better Uitvlugt Rums(-2)Very interesting nose, similar to cherry liqueur and quite closed. On the palate very intense with a nice marzipan note, cocoa and barrel notes. The finish harmonizes with the impression on the palate and is not too bitter.Good intensity without being too bitter or woody. I like very much."

"Often Fiji rum reminds me of Jamaican. Here, rather the other way around. The smoky and peppery barrel notes made it remind me of a South Pacific. Relaxed Hampden. Of the tasted three 01 vintages for me the best."

"Compared to the other 1998 in the CoR series, the complexity is lacking here - the herbal notes are just as weakly represented as are the heavy vanilla and toffee sweetness. Solid in the best sense, slight plus points for the recognizable barrel influence."

"This one was a bit disappointing and I had expected more from a Caroni this age. The Caroni notes are there but very weak. The ABV on the other hand is there and very dominant. It didn't settle down until 45+ minutes and then it still wasn't all there yet. I do like the smoky touch."

"Comparatively distinct bitter notes for a Foursquare. Again solid bouquet, overall somewhat on the tart side. Qualitatively high quality, taste quite with exciting profile - very typical Foursquare with present spiciness."

"A very good interpretation of a Foursquare rum. It needs to rest for a while before you give it a go because of the ABV. Untested it'll bite a bit. Woody with spice and bourbon from nose to finish. On top of that add fruits and chocolate. Only lightly bitter on the palate but in a good way. The finish is nice and long with a peppery bite. Love it!"

"Limited to a mere 246 bottles this is a very nice one indeed.A dark profile all the way. A nose with lots of flavours especially if you let it rest. Flowery, fruity and the typical tar and rubber. I have a tad of thyme as well. The palate is fruity with oak and smoke and it is spicy, really spice in a pleasant way. The rubber and tar is there again with a bit of chocolate. The finish is long, spicy and has some honey to it."

"Second tasting: better and not as light as I remembered. Since one must not be deceived by the pale color. 1First, the pale color amazes, for about 24 years in the barrel has not colored much.On the nose, however, there is no surprise: fine fruit esters stream towards me.On the palate much more intense, sweet, spicy, woody and dry.The finish is quite short and dry. After a break, the fruit esters flash again. These light Clarendons do not really fit into my Beuteschema 😉"

"#4187 This is an OK Long Pond though I would have loved some more kick in the profile. I'd set this one as a light profile Long Pond. Fruity with medium ester and light wood. There is a natural sweetness to it and I like the curtains in the glass. The empty glass has some chocolate and maple to it."

"Kill Devil make very good finishes on their rums and this one is no exception. At release the price was pretty good, but now it has surpassed the 450 euro maker. The nose is spicy with smoky oak and tar. There is a light note of rubber and some raisin in there as well, a well balanced nose actually. The palate is lightly bitter and spicy with smoky oak, tar and light rubber followed by fruits, caramel and tannins. The finish is long and surprisingly spicy with smoky wood and raisin.Resting and a drop of water really releases the flavours."

"#4495 03-04.11.2023 Den Danske Whiskyfestival. Again a special meet up besides the event itself because we think it's a bit too dull. Had a great time with friends again. My notes. Nose: balanced, wood, tar, rubber, roasted, raisin. Palate: warm, wood, rubber, tar, medicinal, dried fruit, light smoke. Finish: long and warm, tar, rubber, wood, smoke, raisin. Empty glass has light vanilla and caramel notes."

"Spamming with a few older tastings that I haven't added yet. Pretty good release but I would have loved a higher ABV. Overall balance is OK but expected more from a release this old."

"Slowly going through all the samples I received from the Colours of Rum series. This younger version of a Barbados rum os not super complex but still pretty good and at the price tag really good. Woody and fruity from nose to finish with spice and a hint of caramel. Long and warm finish."

"The nose is very bourbon-heavy, small wonder - the rum matured 5 years in a bourbon barrel. From the other 5 years in the whiskey barrel is not much to feel - was obviously not an Islay whiskey. On the palate very similar. A certain intensity is there due to the approx. 61% alcohol but unfortunately not many flavors are transported besides bourbon, vanilla and roasted notes.Overall ok but for Foursquare pale, alcoholic and even less representative than No 17 (probably because of the storage in the whiskey barrel, which rarely suits me).Practically without significant difference to Barbados No. 17.One more note on the storage in the whiskey barrel: What prevents the bottler to disclose in what kind of barrel the rum was stored for the last 5 years? Please complete transparency!"
