“Overall a pleasant Clairin that works very well neat that I tasted at the Sweden Rumfest 2023. It’s like all Clairins from Haiti and in this case from Sonson Pierre Gilles distillery in Cabaret. It’s produced from the local sugar cane variety, Madame Meuze, that after the cane is pressed is reduced to syrup that after fermentation is distilled in their pot still by Stephan Kalil Saoud.”

“I loved the 2018 Sonson, a really different nose, much less gourmand than the 2018, with more alcohol and ester than the 2018, it reminded me of Japanese ryoma rum. on the palate it's very iodized, there's some hay, it's astringent, with a hint of ginger, wild, and suave. Overall, I like it a lot less than the 2018, mainly because of the nose, which is a lot even on the palate! But in the end, there's not much difference with the 2018 on the palate, which just goes to show how important the nose is!”
